The Space Lady

Susan Dietrich Schneider, known as The Space Lady (TSL) (née Susan Dietrich, and formerly Suzy Soundz), is a singer and musician who performs space music, synth pop, and psychedelic pop. Representing outsider music, she spent much of the 80’s and 90’s as a street musician in San Francisco and Boston. Wearing a silver plastic helmet with white wings and a flashing red light on top (which she performs in to this day), and playing haunting ethereal covers of rock n roll classics, Susan got the name “The Space Lady” from fans and from a newspaper contest. She is known for her classic song, “Synthesize Me,” written by her late ex-husband Joel Dunsany, using a Casiotone-MT40 to accompany her voice as well as other covers. In 2000 she retired from music and in 2012, she returned to the stage embarking on both national and international tours.
