Active since 2011, the Rrose project explores the intersection of hypnotic techno, experimental composition and psychoacoustic phenomena with a meticulous touch. In 2015 they released an extended version of James Tenney’s 1971 Having Never Written a Note For Percussion for solo tam-tam, and in 2018 collaborated with Charlemagne Palestine on The Goldennn Meeenn + Sheeenn for two grand pianos. These works overlapped with numerous vinyl EPs and album releases on the Sandwell District label and their own label, Eaux. Prior to the Rrose project, Seth Horvitz was active throughout the 1990s as a club and radio DJ, promoter, and producer in the SF Bay Area while earning a bachelor’s in Cognitive Science at UC Berkeley. After several years producing and touring under the name Sutekh, Seth returned to academia to earn a master’s in Electronic Music from Mills College in 2010.
